NECO Physics Practical Questions and Answers 2023. Many NECO candidates find it difficult to answer the NECO Practical Physics correctly due to not understanding the questions. I will show you the best way to answer NECO Physics Practical questions and make a good NECO result in your Physics examination.
You need to understand the NECO Physics Practical marking scheme before attempting any question so as to present your answers in such a way that it will look attractive to the examiner to earn you big marks.
Bear in mind that every single procedure is awarded marks. So, ensure you do not skip any step while reporting and presenting your practical results. And do not forget to remember that the units are very important.
The Physics Practical question paper will consist of three areas and general Physics questions namely:
- Optics
- Electricity
- Mechanics
You will be expected to carry out an experiment, take readings and tabulate your values, plot graph, state precautions taken during the experiment, and report observations.
What you will see will not be far from the NECO Physics Specimen given to your school.
Note: Ensure you avoid parallax errors while taking your readings to get accurate results and do not forget to choose lines of best fit while plotting the graph. It is not compulsory that all the points will enter the line.

In the Teacher’s Report Form, the only place u will fill is QUESTION 3. We didn’t solve question 2. Just leave it empty.
The Resistor of the torchlight bulb is 3 ohms. If u used another person’s solution, e fit no be 3 ohms cos from the specimen, we chose to use two 1.5V dry Leclanche cell ie 1.5 + 1.5 = 3V. But someone else might decide to use 2V accumulator.
So just put 3 in Question 3 of the Teacher’s Report Form, that’s all.
Wondering how we got 3 ohms?
We used ohms law V = IR
and we used figures from specimen which Ammeter was given as 0 – 1 A
And we chose to use two dry Leclanche cell of 1.5V each (ie 3V)
So we used 1A and 3V
Ohms law V = IR
.:. R = V/I
where V = 3, I = 1
R = 3/1
R = 3 ohms

(iii). Read and record the boiling point bo.
(iv). Add table salt of mass M = 10.0g to the boiling water and stir continuously until another boiling point bi is attained.
(v). Read and Record bi.
(vi). Evaluate θi = (bi – bo )
(vii) Using the same mixture, repeat the procedure four more times by adding 10.0g of salt each times to give the cumulative mass Mi of salt as 20g. 30g. 40g. and 50g.
(viii) in each case, allow the mixture to boil steadily for at least 2 minutes then read and record the boiling point bi.
(ix). Tabulate your readings

(xi). Determine the slope, s, of the graph.
(xii). State two precautions taken to ensure accurate results.
(xiii). Define the boiling points of a liquid
(xiv). What effect do impurities have on the boiling point of a liquid?
3(a) You are provided with cells, a potentionmeter, an ammeter, a voltmeter, a bulb, a key, a jockey and other necessary materials.
(i) Measure and record the e.m.f. E of the battery
(ii) Set up a circuit as shown in the diagram above.
(iii) Close the key K and use the jockey to make a firm contact at J on the potentiometer wire such that PJ = x = 10cm.
(iv) Take and record the voltmeter reading V and the corresponding ammeter reading I.
(v) Evaluate the log V and log I.
(vi) Repeat the procedure for five values of x = 20cm, 30cm, 40cm, 50cm, and 60cm,

(ii) List two electrical devices whose actions do not obey Ohm’s law.
PHYSICS PRACTICAL ANSWERS
1(a)(iii) Table of reading
S/N | L(cm) | L(m) | T1(s) | T2(s) | t(mean) | T = t/n | Log T | Log L |
1 | 80 | 0.8 | 11.1 | 11.2 | 11.15 | 1.12 | 0.05 | -0.10 |

5 | 40 | 0.4 | 7.7 | 7.7 | 7.70 | 0.77 | -0.11 | -0.40 |
(x)
Slope = ΔlogT/ΔlogL = LogT2 – LogT1/LogL2 – LogL1 = 0.098-(0.10)/0.00 – (-0.38)
= 0.098 + 0.10/0.00 + 0.38 = 0.198/0.38 = 0.52
The intercept, C on the vertical axis = 0.99
(I) I ensured strings were tight
(II) I avoided parallax error on metre rule
(III) I ensured smooth and regular oscillation in a horizontal plane.
(b)(i) Simple harmonic motion is the motion of a body whose acceleration is always directed towards, a fixed point and is directly proportional to the displacement from the fixed point.
(ii) T = t/n = 12/10 = 1.2s
;log 1.2 = 0.079
The value of LogL = 0.035 = 0.04
L = 1.1
