Shell Undergraduate Scholarship 2023. The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SPDC /TEPNG/AGIP Joint Venture) invites eligible candidates to apply for the Shell Scholarship Program 2023 for Nigerians. SPDC in pursuance of its Education Social Investment programme, which aims to promote academic excellence and improve the skills of young Nigerians, invites applications from suitably qualified Full-Time Nigerian Students admitted in the 2023/2024 academic session to apply for its University Scholarship Scheme.

Criteria for Application of Shell Undergraduate Scholarship

The merit-based scholarship is in two categories – the National Merit Award (NM) and the Areas of Operation Merit Award.

• National Merit Award (NM) – Open to all Nigerians
• Areas of Operation Merit Award – Open to Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational areas in Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States

Eligible Applicants must:

• Be citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
• Be registered FULL TIME undergraduates in an accredited and approved University in Nigeria
• Be in 200 Level (as of December 2022)

How to Apply for Shell Undergraduate Scholarship

1. All applicants should have personal valid email account (for consistent communication)
2. All applications must be done online, visit the website via Shell Scholarship Portal to apply
3. Applicants for the Operational Area Awards are required to provide scanned copies of letters of identification, (which must be duly stamped and signed) by:

• The Paramount Ruler of the Community; and
• The Chairman of the Community Development or Executive Council (CDC or CEC)

The letters should be addressed to The Manager, Social Performance, Shell Petroleum Development Company, Port Harcourt.

How Much Does Shell Scholarship Pay?

Shell Scholarship pays  N150,000 to the Successful Winners. The annual grant from the SPDC JV for the full duration of your course. The 4000 winners will receive N150,000 throughout the duration of their course.

The University Scholarship Scheme, a programme run by SPDC on behalf of the NNPC/Shell/Elf/Agip Joint Venture, makes a quiet but very profound commentary on the company’s interest in the promotion of capacity building in the country.

Every year, more than 4,000 Nigerian undergraduates write aptitude tests to join the evergrowing list of students which Shell Nigeria supports in Nigerian Universities.

The applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the national SSCE and JAMB examination results. This is followed by an aptitude test at the PortHarcourt, Warri, Enugu, Lagos and Abuja centres.

There are two categories of the Scholarship Scheme, the National Merit Award (NM), open to Nigerian undergraduates and Areas of Operation Merit Award (AOM), for students from communities in which Shell Nigeria operates.

Only first year students are eligible for the awards in both categories.
