Dartmouth Transfer Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Requirements

Dartmouth Transfer Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate for transfer students applying to Dartmouth is 2%. Dartmouth received 736 transfer applications in 2019, Out of those applicants, only 11 students were admitted.

But in 2020, 273 applicants submitted transfer applications to the institution, and 78 applicants were admitted to Dartmouth.

Thereby making the transfer acceptance rate to increase to 28.5%, which is higher than the 2019 transfer acceptance rate.

In comparison, the acceptance rate for non-transfer students for class of 2025 is 6.17%. This shows that transfer students have a greater chance of being admitted to the school.

Application Requirements & GPA for Dartmouth Transfers

Dartmouth does not have any strict minimum GPA requirement for transfer students but most transfer students who were accepted to the school have a GPA of at least 3.7.

For applicants to be qualified to send an application to transfer to Dartmouth, it is mandatory for them to have completed two years or less of coursework at another college or institution.

For those who have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent are not qualified for transfer admission to Dartmouth.

Furthermore, students who have gotten college credits while enrolled in high school are also not qualified to transfer to Dartmouth for admission.

Applicants who have matriculated at a college and who have completed two years or less of college coursework at the date of application are qualified for transfer admission.

It is prerequisite for aspiring transfer students to fill out Dartmouth’s transfer application, with an application fee of $90.

Other credentials required to be submitted with the application include a final report and transcript from high school, as well as a transcript and official report from a college official at the institution from which the student wishes to transfer.  

Transfer students are also required to submit two evaluations from their previous college professors.

To complete the application, applicants must make proof of SAT or ACT scores available or a testing waiver.

If transfer applicants are accepted, they are requested to submit an updated college transcript and course syllabi for all courses so that Dartmouth department faculty can determine how many credits they will accept.

Dartmouth Transfer Deadline

The deadline for the submission of an application to Dartmouth as a transfer student is March 1st.

Transfer applicants are also required to submit all the necessary credentials and financial aid application materials on this date.

Once a transfer student has submitted their application, they will then have access to an applicant portal whereby transfer students can complete their transfer academic update.

Those who sent an application to Dartmouth will get a decision from the school either in form of admitted, denied, or waitlisted.

If the transfer application is denied, the applicants will have to wait for an additional academic year to be eligible to reapply to the school.

What is the Decision Date for Dartmouth Transfers?

Admission decisions for transfer students are made available each year by mid-May and students have until May 1st to accept or reject their admission position at Dartmouth.

Once the acceptance of admissions has been offered, accepted, and all necessary documents are turned in, students will be all set to attend Dartmouth
