Researchers at the institution focus on new discoveries in agriculture, biotechnology, information and communication technology, human health, transportation, energy management (including leadership in fuel-cell technology and power electronics), security, sustainability, and a diverse range of other engineering, scientific, social science, and creative fields

In addition, its alumni are eight Medal of Honor recipients, 97 flag officers, two US state governors, two astronauts, and one billionaire.

Virginia Tech Acceptance Rate

Because Virginia Tech is a public university dedicated to offering quality education to Virginians and qualified out-of-state students, it has an acceptance rate of around 67%.

This demonstrates that the institution has a highly selective admission policy. The school also has an early acceptance rate of 77.3%.

Although Virginia Tech has a moderate acceptance rate, they don’t accept just everybody. The school does have reasonably high standards that are mandatory for students to meet before they are given an offer of admission.

Virginia Tech demands that freshmen applicants provide their high school GPA and strongly recommends that they also provide standardized scores.

The application deadline is Jan. 15 and the application fee at Virginia Tech is $60.

Half the applicants admitted to Virginia Tech have an SAT score between 1170 and 1370 or an ACT score of 25 and 31.

However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges, and one quarter scored below these ranges.

However, students who do not have those grades should not be discouraged. Because  Virginia Tech utilizes a holistic evaluation process, numbers are not the be-all, end-all to the administration.

Letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and evidence of community service can prove that you are the type of student they want on their campus, even more so than overall grades.
