The aim of this article is to help you in making the right decision in choosing a school that will be fit for your study. Let’s get started!

Recently, jobs in the computer science industry can be found in almost every sector—from a company developing innovative technology to a government agency or a nonprofit entity.

With high demand, most professionals assume on-the-job experience is enough for a successful computer science career. But that’s only partly true.

While practical experience is essential, it may only take you so far. As technology rapidly advances and becomes more specialized, companies are seeking highly-skilled candidates with advanced degrees to lead their technology teams.

If you want to succeed in this extremely competitive field, a master’s degree in computer science might be your best bet. See best online Computer Science Masters Program.

Although some entry-level computer science jobs don’t require a master’s degree, getting your master’s degree in computer science can help put your resume at the top of the pile and it will also allow you to focus your degree on fast-growing specialties like network security, data analytics, software development and artificial intelligence.

The school’s College of Engineering offers two different master’s programs in computer science. The first is the MS in computer science and engineering, which consists of 30 credit hours.

For prospective students who are interested in pursuing careers in the field of engineering, there is the ME in computer science and engineering. The intensive ME program is much shorter than the MS option, with a duration of just one year.

Pennsylvania State University also offers online graduate program options in both computer science and engineering.

2. Georgia Institute of Technology

The Georgia Institute of Technology is a public research university that offers a wide array of degree programs in the technology field, including an MS in computer science.

Open to students who have completed a computer science bachelors, the MSCS is intended to prepare students for successful careers in the technology industry. MSCS students at Georgia Tech choose one of three different formats for their degree program.

One of these is the course option. Students who select this track are required to complete 30 credit hours of coursework, 24 of which must be in computer science-related subjects.

Secondly, there is the project option. This plan of study also includes 30 credit hours, with 21 hours being academic coursework, while the remaining nine hours consist of a capstone project.

Lastly is the thesis option, which entails 18 credits of coursework, the other 12 hours being dedicated to a thesis.

3. University of Florida

Ranking among the top five public research universities in the United States, the University of Florida has multiple graduate degree programs that are great for students interested in computer science.

At the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, there is the MS in computer science. See University of Florida Acceptance Rate.

The Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering — a part of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering — offers four unique computer science-related graduate degree programs.

Students interested in earning a master’s in computer engineering can choose either an ME or an MS, depending on their professional aspirations.

The Wertheim College also has its own MS in computer science program.

The final program option at the school is the MS in digital arts and sciences, a computer science-focused degree intended for students who are interested in studying the technical side of computer simulation and graphics.
